Niles split with Bridgman

BRIDGMAN — Visiting Niles split a pair of non-conference softball games with Bridgman Wednesday afternoon.

The Vikings (5-5) collected 11 hits in winning the opening game 7-0 over the Bees.

Brooke Timm went the distance, allowing five hits and striking out four.

Taylor Altergott was 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Addison Davies was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Hannah Albright was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles.

It was a different story in the nightcap as Bridgman pitcher Ashley Crowder tossed a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts.

“Game one was great. We got on their first pitcher early and scored six runs in the first three innings,” said Niles coach Rick McKeel. “We hit her well, but not the second pitcher Crowder. Brooke Timm threw a complete game shutout scattering five hits. In game two, Reese Davies threw a good game. They only managed three hits and some miscues in the field led to some unearned runs, we didn’t hit the ball and score runs for her. We were disappointed with the game two results.”

Reese Davies was the tough-luck pitcher as despite allowing just three hits, she took the loss for Niles.

Sadie Fountain was 2-for-2 at the plate for the Vikings.
