A Niles Township man was arrested and lodged in the Berrien County Jail March 30, after police found marijuana on the premises, according to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department.
The Berrien County Sheriff Department’s Narcotics Unit was assisted by the Berrien Couty Sheriff Department’s Road Patrol in executing a search warrant for illegal narcotics at the 2400 block of S. 14th St.
During the search, officers located and secured two adults in the residence. A search of the residence located 16 grams of marijuana, digital scales and $620. The money was seized under civil forfeiture. The street value of the controlled substance is valued at approximately $200.
The male that resides at the residence has a prior drug conviction and is currently on felony probation out of Berrien County. He was arrested and lodged at the Berrien County Jail. The resident’s name cannot be released until his arraignment.
He is being charged with possession with the intent to deliver marijuana, second offense; maintaining a drug house, second offense; and felony probation detainer. The other occupant of the residence was questioned and released.
