Nov. 19, 1952 — March 11, 2017

Theola M. Fultz, 64, of Madison, Alabama, (a Dowagiac native) passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017, in Clarksville, Tennessee, from complications associated with congestive heart failure. She was traveling to Michigan to visit her beloved family.

Theola, aka “TT” or “T” was born in Cassopolis on Nov. 19, 1952, to parents, A.D. and Ida Bea (Mae) Fultz (both deceased).

Theola was a caring, giving person whose bark was tougher than her bite. She kept things real, never bit her tongue, never judged and fiercely loved her people. Theola gave generously and faithfully to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Indian School.

Theola was a proud employee of General Motors in Kalamazoo until, due to health issues, she left GM to join her niece, Mona, as a companion and caregiver to her children. This journey took her to Texas, Georgia, Florida and, ultimately, Madison, where she resided peacefully with her faithful companion, “Sam,” a Jack Russel Terrier, until her death.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Flossie Brown, Mary Helen Clark and Lorraine Fultz, and brothers George Fultz, Willie D. Fultz, Carlos Fultz, Gene Fultz and Charles Fultz.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Clara (Ronald) Pompey of Dowagiac, Ray D. Fultz of Saginaw and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be hosted March 21, 2017, at Peace Temple Church, 102 Andrews St, Dowagiac, with the Rev. Tonnie Blackamore as officiant. A viewing will be at 1 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. The repast will immediately follow the service.

Initial arrangements were made by Foston Funeral Home of Clarksville. Final arrangements are entrusted to Harper Funeral Home in Kalamazoo.
