Bobcats fall in first home meet

NILES - Brandywine's cross country team held its first home meet of the season Monday afternoon, hosting River Valley and Berrien Springs for a Lakeland Conference meet.
Berrien Springs took the overall win in the girls' race, defeating the Bobcats 20-41 and River Valley 20-35.
In the boys' race, the Shamrocks again dominated, defeating Brandywine 21-27 and the Mustangs 15-45.
The Bobcats boys' team defeated River Valley, 19-33.
Kyle Banish of Berrien Springs was the overall winner, with a time of 19:36 for the boys and Becky Miller, who is the defending conference champion for the Shamrocks, took the overall win for the girls with a time of 21:53.
Brandywine's Tyler Weedon was the top finisher for the boys, taking third place with a time of 19:56.
Dan DeVos finished fourth overall with a time of 20:20, Cameron Roth placed seventh with his time of 23:15 and Tom Buzzard took ninth with a time of 24:02.
In the girls' race, it was Ashley Harrell who led the Lady Cats with a time of 23:18, to earn her third place.
Caylin Garrard finished seventh with a time of 24:01, Bettina Wolfe took 15th with her time of 26:02 and Sarah DeVos finished 16th with a time of 26:06.
The Bobcats will return to the course on Saturday, when they host the 35th annual Brandywine Invitational set to begin at 10 a.m.
On Tuesday, Oct. 25, Brandywine will host the Conference tournament. That meet will begin at 4 p.m.
