Scott Allen Schmidtendorff, 49, of Dowagiac, departed this life Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at home.
Scott was a loving son, brother and uncle. He was born Nov. 20, 1967, in South Bend, to Ronald Schmidtendorff and Colleen Barrett.
He will always be remembered for his love of animals, no matter the kind. He loved his best friend, Molly, his treasured dog. His greatest hobbies were hunting and being on Diamond Lake with F. K. Kennedy.
He was a friend and a helper for all who knew him. He could always be found on Sunday morning with his best friends, Tre, Don and Dave. He will always be remembered by his best friend, Doc.
He attended the Church of Christ of Cassopolis. He could often be found sitting next to his uncle Dale and aunt Bonnie, whom he loved very much.
He will be deeply missed by his mother, brother, sister-in-law Ernesta, special friend Laura of Marcellus and many other friends. He is survived by his mother, Colleen Burmuster and stepfather Eugene Copeland, both of Dowagiac; his father, Ron Schmidtendorff of Wisconsin; his brother, Steven D. Schmidtendorff and sister-in-law Ernesta; and his special nephew, Steven D. Schmidtendorff.

Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, for a graveside service in Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac.
The family prefers contributions in Scott’s memory be made to the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals in Cassopolis.
