It was a frosty day in Dowagiac Saturday — and that does not just refer to the temperature on the thermometer. The Greater Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Ice Time Festival that day downtown, attracting hundreds to the central business district to check out the various ice sculptures crafted by area artisans that morning. Several of these carvers competed in the annual Carve-Off later that day at Beckwith Park. In spite of the chilly weather, visitors had plenty of ways to keep warm Saturday, including spending some time in front of the bonfire set up by Dowagiac police and firefighters on Commercial Street.
