Athlete Showcase: Brandywine’s Hunter Slaughter

Hunter Slaughter is a member of the Brandywine boys basketball team.

 

What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?

HS: Winning districts and conference.

 

What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?

HS: Losing the first game of regionals.

 

What has been a hardship in your life?

HS: My grandpa passing away last year.

 

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

HS: Coach (Nathan) Knapp. He has helped me become the player I am today.

 

When are you the most nervous while you are competing?

HS: I am never nervous.

 

Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.

HS: I scored in the wrong basket.

 

How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?

HS: I just put shots up.

 

What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?

HS: Football.

 

Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?

HS: They teach you responsibility.

 

How would you give away $50,000?

HS: I would donate half of the money and give the rest to my mom and dad.

 

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

HS: The Golden State Warriors.

 

If I did not play sports, I would…?

HS: Not go to school. Basketball motivates me.

 

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

HS: Not getting mad.

 

If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?

HS: There would be no out-of-bounds.

 

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

 

HS: I am the No. 1 best point guard there is in Brandywine history.

 

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

HS: Ride a roller coaster.

 

What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?

HS: Vinny Peel dunked.

 

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

HS: Basketball. That is the only thing that keeps me focused.
