Bobcats take win on the road

EDWARDSBURG - The Lady Eddies were hoping to rebound after a 32-point loss against Bridgman Tuesday night, but Brandywine outscored the Lady Eddies 31-18 in the second half to claim a road victory in a Lakeland Conference match.
The Bobcats defeated Edwardsburg 51-36.
Brandywine started the contest with a full court defense, but back-to-back buckets by the Lady Eddies opened up an early lead.
The Bobcats' Kalie Newman knocked down two &#8221threes“; in a row, along with six first quarter points by Katie Smallwood, narrowed the Edwardsburg lead to 14-12 after the first quarter.
The Lady Eddies' Kerri Wood and Stephanie Koontz each scored six points along with three blocked shots.
Brandywine jumped out to an early two point lead in the second quarter, but the Lady Eddies would manage to tie the game up at 16-16 midway through the period.
Smallwood hit a jumper near the end of the quarter to give the Lady Cats an 20-18 halftime lead.
They outscored the Eddies 8-4.
A 7-0 scoring outburst by Brandywine gave the Bocats a 28-21 lead with 3:45 to and would eventually open up a double-digit lead (33-23).
The Lady Eddies chopped away at the lead to make it a 36-29 margin, but the Bobcats hit their free throws down the stretch to put the game out of reach.
Smallwood led Brandywine with 22 points, and Newman with 16.
Kerri Wood paced the Eddies 14 points and two blocked shots. Koontz finished with 11 points and one block.
The Lady Eddies fall to 2-7 in the conference and 4-9 overall for the season.
