Chilly but clear weather greeted the illuminated vehicles, floats and marchers making their way down Front Street Friday night, as the annual Candlelight Christmas Parade returned.
Hundreds of onlookers lined the downtown streets that evening, watching as more than 100 different units would through downtown. Participants included many area public safety departments, businesses, pageant queens and marching bands. Once again hosting the event were members of the Greater Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce, who sponsored the parade along with Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital.
Winning awards were:
• Grinch’s Grimace Award (best overall): Grandma & Grandpa Build a Float
• Best Children’s Entry: Dowagiac Little League
• Santa’s Choice Award (best float and/or motorized entry): Larry Manley, washing machine float
• Best Christmas Spirit: Forest Glen Assisted Living
• Best Use Of Light: Sew Can You
