Kelsey Crocker is a sophomore on the Dowagiac volleyball team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
KC: Making the varsity team as a freshman.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
KC: Losing games you know you could have won.
What has been a hardship in your life?
KC: My height has challenged me throughout my volleyball career.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
KC: My mom. She always motivates me to never give up.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
KC: When we have a close game and it is my serve.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
KC: Practicing with my team and JV, slipping on water and landing on my face.
How do you tend to work out/train when by yourself?
KC: P1 Workouts in Niles.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
KC: Softball.
Why are sports an important part of a high school experience?
KC: It helps you keep your grades up, keeps you out of trouble and it makes memories.
How would you give away $50,000?
KC: Donate it to a cancer foundation.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
KC: Michigan State volleyball.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
KC: Get a part-time job.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
KC: Setting the ball.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
KC: If it hits the wall it should be playable.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
KC: You’re amazing at volleyball and could go Division 1.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
KC: A game-winning serve. Yes, we won.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
KC: It is amazing to see other people from another country having the same passion and love for the game as I do.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
KC: Volleyball. I love the game.
