In today’s world, the chance of experiencing some form of violence in the workplace is ever increasing.
On Thursday, Nov. 10, in cooperation with the Greater Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce, members of the Dowagiac Police Department will present a seminar for Chamber members and their employees on how to deal with these situations.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at city hall.
“From dealing with angry customers and de-escalation techniques to facing a person who is actively violent, we hope to provide businesses with the tools and information needed to deal with these situations,” said Steve Grinnewald, Dowagiac director of public safety. “We hope to provide employees with the information to prepare for a potential situation, as well as how to respond to an active violence incident.”
The Dowagiac Police Department has trained personnel on providing information to local businesses on these topics. This training session will be interactive and informative for members.
The police department is committed to working with local business owners to let them know what they can do to protect themselves and their employees.
