Niles girls sixth at SMAC Championships

ST. JOSEPH — Devon Tomlinson and Kaylee Thompson both finished in the top 20 at the SMAC Cross Country Championships hosted at Riverview Park in St. Joseph Saturday.

Portage Central won the boys team title with 25 points. Portage Northern was second with 53 points and Niles ninth with 242 points.

Gannon Foley of Portage Central was the individual champion with a time of 16:08.

Tomlinson finished 14th with a time 16:51.

Battle Creek Lakeview was the girls team champion with 33 points. Portage Northern was second with 78 points and Niles sixth with 196 points.

Lakeview’s Maggie Farrell was the individual champion with a time of 17:19.

Thompson finished 17th with a time of 19:52.

Brandywine Invitational

Marcellus was the lone team at the Brandywine Invitational with a full squad Saturday.

The Wildcats won both the boys and girls races with 15 points.

Brandywine, Lawrence and New Buffalo did not field full teams.

Parker DePalma of New Buffalo was the boys individual champion with a time of 18:11.

Keegan Reith was the lone Bobcat to run in the boys race. He posted a time of 23:37.

Emma Pachay of Marcellus was the girls individual champion with a time of 20:55.

Searra Inman was the lone Brandywine runner. She posted a time of 25:12.
