Three events the weekend of July 9 will provide family fun, culture and good food all within a short drive of one another along Michigan 60 from Cassopolis to Vandalia.
The Summer Art Show sponsored by the Cass Area Artists will feature original artwork from juried artists on the grounds of the Lowe Center at the Cass County COA from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, July 9.
Watercolors, woodturning, glass, clay and jewelry are among the works presented by both new and returning artists from around Michiana. Portrait artist Robert Williams will do on-site portraits.
Close-by on M-60 and Calvin Center Road, the historic Bonine House will provide a glimpse into the role of the people of Cass County as they impacted local, state and national history during the Kentucky Raid.
Open for tours, the recently remodeled Bonine house sits just across the road from the James E. Bonine Carriage House, which provided shelter for freedom seekers.
Just minutes away, Underground Railroad Days in the Village of Vandalia, will have events Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 8-10.
Featured will be Soul Food dinner, Kentucky Raid Tours, plus presentations and music throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday.
