Library hosting summer activities

The Dowagiac District Library is offering several activities and events for patrons this summer.

Kids and teens are invited to check out some of these activities, including loom crafts, LEGOs, advanced coloring books (using special pens and pencils), tabletop games, and lots of popular book series and graphic novels to check out.

People can also play summer reading BINGO and earn collectible buttons.

Storytime takes place at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Friday, and “messy time” outside crafts at 1 p.m. Fridays.

Parents can sign toddlers and preschooler children up to read 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, to allow them to earn prizes along the way.

Teens and tweens can join one of the library’s book clubs, or come by from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursdays, when the board games, card games, and Xbox rule the upstairs.  Adults won’t be disappointed with selection of popular fiction titles and nonfiction that’s been in the news. The library also has thousands of titles for download for eReaders or smartphones, and which return themselves automatically.

No matter how hot it gets outside it’ll always be cool at the Library.  People can always come in, relax and charge their electronics, or use one of the library’s computer stations or Wi-Fi in and around the building.
