With warmer temperatures making their way to southwest Michigan this week, it won’t be long before summer vacationers follow to Sister Lakes.

This year, those guests are expected to be greeted with ice cold, locally brewed beer, just a short distance from their vacation homes.

We’re incredibly excited for the premiere of Sister Lakes Brewing Company, and seeing the progress the Morin family has made on the establishment just made us even more anxious to see — and taste — what’s on tap.

Several months ago we announced the family’s intentions to build a microbrewery in Sister lakes. In a very short time, the entrepreneurs have honed their craft, put in taps, renovated their building and even developed a menu of snacks customers can munch on while enjoying their beer.

Sister Lakes Brewing joins a large number of similar establishments in the region, but it’s the first of its kind in Sister Lakes and only the second microbrewery in Cass County.

Typically, if craft beer connoisseurs wish to try a new brew, they have to travel north to Kalamazoo, south to South Bend or west to Lake Michigan. Now, they can try new beer right in their backyard.

And just like the microbreweries in Kalamazoo, South Bend and the coast draw people from Dowagiac and Sister Lakes, we have no doubt that Sister Lakes Brewing will draw a whole new crowd of customers to Sister Lakes. We love any sort of business that helps to showcase all Dowagiac and Sister Lakes have to offer.

Once the Morins put the final touches on their new restaurant and open their doors next month, we encourage everyone to give the new business a try, and bring friends!
