Doris F. (Cox) Ruple Kronewitter, 87, of Osceola, formerly of Dowagiac, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016, at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 51841 Leach Road, Dowagiac, with Father Kevin Covert officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Dowagiac. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 18, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, 405 Center Street, Dowagiac. Memorials may be made to Center for Hospice Care, St. Joseph County, Indiana or Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Doris was born July 19, 1928 in Dowagiac to Leonard and Helen (Fernham) Cox. She graduated from Dowagiac Central High School in 1946. Doris married Robert “Bob” Ruple on Feb 28, 1948 in Dowagiac; he preceded her in death on March 7, 1963. She later married Orville L. Kronewitter on May 2, 1964; he preceded her in death on April 11, 2012. Doris worked as a medical receptionist for several local doctor’s offices and continued working as a medical receptionist after she moved to Indiana. She also worked for several years in health services at University of Notre Dame before retirement. Doris was a member at Queen of Peace in Mishawaka and served as a Eucharist Minister. She enjoyed traveling, loved her grandchildren and was a lot of fun to be around.

Doris is survived by two daughters, Debbie Strom of Dowagiac and Robyn (Gerald) Karkiewicz of Granger, Indiana; son, Andy (Charmaine) Kronewitter of Gilbert, Arizona; three grandchildren, Bradley (Brendan) Bremener of Fridley, Minnesota, Nicole Kronewitter and Karlie Kronewitter both of Gilbert, Arizona; two sisters, Jane Gajewski of Crossville, Tennessee and Barbara Cravens of Dowagiac; sisters-in-law Joann Ausra, Betty Horton, Jesse Ruple; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; second husband, Orville; sons-in-law Kevin Strom and Craig Springman; sister-in-law Phyllis Strom and step-mother Melvina Cox.
