ST. JOSEPH — United Federal Credit Union (UFCU) is proud to announce it has been named Large Business of the Year and a Platinum Stake award winner by the Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce. Both awards were announced and presented at the Chamber’s Business Recognition Breakfast on February 11, 2016.

The Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce presents the Large Business of the Year award to a local organization that has excelled in a variety of areas including response to adversity, commitment and contribution to the local community, and business growth.

“We are honored to receive the Large Business of the Year award,” said President/CEO Gary Easterling. “We thank the Chamber for recognizing us, and we thank the people who made it possible — our members and employees. We owe our success to them.”

UFCU topped $2 billion in assets in 2015, and saw membership increase by eight percent. The credit union also provided its communities with an unprecedented amount in charitable giving and economic development assistance, and continued a multi-phase building project that included a new flagship branch in St. Joseph, Michigan, and a corporate office building in Niles, Michigan.

United was also recognized by the Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce with the Platinum Stake award at the breakfast. The Platinum Stake award is given to local businesses that show a dedication to Michigan’s Great Southwest through business growth and capital investment.
