Makenna Hartline is a senior on the Brandywine girls basketball team.
What has been one of your greatest
accomplishments as an athlete?
MK: Making all-state last year.
What has been one of your biggest
disappointments as an athlete?
MK: Losing in the quarterfinals last year.
What has been a hardship in your life?
MK: Breaking my ankle the summer before my sophomore year and having to come back.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
MK: My dad, because of everything he has done for me.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
MK: Right before we run out onto the court.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
MK: I haven’t had one in basketball.
How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?
MK: I always workout with my team.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
MK: Softball.
Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?
MK: My mom, because she’s never missed a game.
How would you give away $50,000?
MK: To an animal shelter.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
MK: University of Michigan men’s basketball.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
MK: I would go fishing with my dad more.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
MK: The conditioning
workouts through Marla Peak.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
MK: I wouldn’t change any rules.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
MK: Having a stranger walk up to me and say they enjoyed watching me play.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
MK: I haven’t had to do anything really scary.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
MK: The umpire at my softball tournament taught my team how to whip.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
MK: Ice fishing with my dad, because he’s fun to be around.
