Trayton and Parker Saladin signed national letters of intent to swim at West Virginia and Eastern Michigan respectively Monday.

Trayton is part of the nine-person class of 2016-17 for the Mountaineers.

Parker will stay in-state and compete in the Mid-American Conference.

The two brothers have competed on the Bridgman co-op swim team as well as the Irish Aquatics team at Notre Dame.

According to West Virginia coach Vic Riggs, Trayton will add depth in mid-distance freestyle and backstroke.

Trayton feels right at home at West Virginia.

“I chose West Virginia because I felt a personal connection with the university and team. It seemed like a perfect fit from the beginning. During the whole process the coaches were helpful with all my questions. During my visit, the team was welcoming and made me feel at home. I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of West Virginia swimming and the community, and I look forward to growing as a swimmer while getting a quality education.”

Parker competes in freestyle, butterfly and intermediate events.

His time in the 400-meter intermediate race would have placed him in the B-final at the Mid-American Conference meet last year according to Eastern coach Peter Linn.

“I chose Eastern Michigan because of the connection I made with the team and coach Peter Linn,” Parker said. “Looking forward to continuing my swimming career with such a strong history of success in the pool and classroom. Excited for the next four years.”
