Athlete Showcase: Brandywine’s Tyler Mott

Tyler Mott is a senior on the Brandywine tennis team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
TM: Winning regional at three doubles my junior year.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
TM: Losing conference this year in a third set tiebreak.
What has been a hardship in your life?
TM: I sometimes procrastinate… a lot.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
TM: David Sidenbender because he is a great coach and father.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
TM: When the match is close with a lot on the line.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
TM: Missing an overhead slam in front of everyone.
How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?
TM: Sometimes I like to go to the courts and just serve.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
TM: I wouldn’t compete in another sport. Tennis is life.
Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?
TM: My mother. She is at my matches whenever she can, even when I’m not the best of children.
How would you give away $50,000?
TM: I would donate the money to Niles-Buchanan Rotary for their Christmas drive for children.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
TM: I would coach the Cubbies. I want to fly the “W.”
If I did not play sports, I would…?
TM: Play 2K.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
TM: Remain calm in frustrating times.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
TM: Add line judges to big tournament play.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
TM: I look like Mr. Crocker.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
TM: Taking college classes while still in high school.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
TM: David Sidenbender spread butter on Mark Conrad.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
TM: Playing tennis. I love it so much.
