Niles sweeps all opponents to win Comstock title

COMSTOCK — The Niles Volleyball Team went 5-0 sweeping all teams to win the Comstock Invitational championship Saturday.
The Vikings came out focused on its goal to go undefeated and win the championship.
In pool play, Niles defeated Kalamazoo Loy Norrix 25-21 and 25-12, defeated Bridgman 25-10 and 25-13 and Kalamazoo Hackett 25-12 and 25-18.
The Vikings were the top seed coming out of pool play and defeated Decatur 25-5 and 25-9 in the semifinals.
In the championship match, Niles defeated arch rival Lakeshore 25-13 and 25-16.
“My players are really coming together as a team,” Niles coach Jenny Nate said. “Their level of play and wins lately are due to the fact that they trust each other and know that their success is built on the roles of each member of our team. We have a balanced mix of strong offensive and defensive players and I love coaching these girls.
“They put their heart into this team and that effort is reflecting in their record. Each day, they come to practice ready to work and continue to build strength as a unit.”
Niles is now 32-6 heading into the Gull Lake Mini Tuesday.
