SOUTH HAVEN — Host South Haven scored a pair of second half goals to defeat Dowagiac 3-1 in Wolverine Conference soccer Wednesday night.
The Chieftains got a goal from Gage Williams off an assist from Nick Carpenter in the 10th minute and headed into halftime tied with the Rams at 1-1.
“We played hard but not smart,” Dowagiac coach Mike Williams said. “We were pulled into a very physical game and stop playing smart. We beat ourselves by not being in position on the field and in the goal. We have to play smarter in order to compete in our conference.”
The Dowagiac JV soccer team defeated South Haven 3-2.
Johnny Ruiz, Shane Strom and Miguel Contreras all scored goals for the Chieftains.
