Sherry was born April 28, 1957, in Gainesville, Florida to William and Glenna (Smith) Odom. Sherry was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She married Kenneth Wray on Aug. 31, 2000 at the Hope United Methodist Church in Edwardsburg. With the love of her husband, Ken, who served as deputy sheriff and chief of police in Edwardsburg for over 43 years, Sherry was a longtime supporter of law enforcement.
She loved cooking, music and dancing. She was known to “bust a move” at the drop of a hat when she heard music. She was her children’s “best friend” and loved her family. Her grandchildren, who referred to her as “Mam-Mae”, were above all else, her greatest love. She was a mentor to many and was mother to ten foreign exchange students over the years. Many of her students were from Spain and they forged a special bond that continued through their time together. Sherry was a huge Florida Gators fan and she loved animals. She was especially fond of her two dogs, Betty and Cleo.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Ken and her children; Dawn Wray of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Susan (Kasey) Phillips of Portage, Indiana, Nora Wray of Niles, Danielle (Mark) Carlson of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Kendra Pope of Coloma, Michigan, Tiffany Pope of Dowagiac, Bree Lee of Dowagiac and Cody Wray of Dowagiac. She also leaves behind six grandchildren; Gwyneth, Kirstin, Titus, Savannah, Jr. and Valerie. Sherry has two brothers; Kenneth Odom and Douglas Odom of Connecticut and three sisters; Debra and Jill Odom of Connecticut and Linda Howe of Decatur. Sherry was preceded in death by her father and one daughter, Elizabeth Odom.
