Niles fifth at SMAC jamboree

The Niles girls golf team finished fifth at the SMAC West Division jamboree it hosted at Orchard Hills Country Club Monday.
The Vikings shot 380 as a team.
“They all played well and really showed individual improvement on the course,” Niles coach Dan Palmer said. “The girls are all very excited to continue their golf season and continue working and improving their skills.”
Elizabeth Clark shot 49 to lead the Vikings, who also got a 56 from Aynslee Myer. Katie Bruckner finished with a 63, while Emma Durm and Michelle Crouch both shot 68.
Jessica Tompos finished with a 76.
Niles opened its season at the Battle Creek Invitational Friday.
The Vikings were led by Clark’s 99. Myer shot 121, Bruckner 128, Durm 131, Crouch 141 and Tompos 146.
