There are so many things going on these days that it is hard to focus on what our priorities ought to be.
The devastation of Katrina is still fresh in all of our minds, however, Hurricane Rita has captured out attention for the time being as we wait and see just how much damage this monster storm will create.
While we need to keep all those individuals affected by these storms in our prayers, there are plenty of local events that can help avert our attention to happier thoughts.
Tonight at Brandywine High School and Dowagiac Union High School, Homecoming will be celebrated.
This means a full week of activities conclude tonight with crowning of the kings and queens during halftime festivities.
Congratulations to those who are selected.
Our hats go off to all who got involved this week in the various activities and those who created the wonderful floats we will see.
Watch for DUHS Student Senate's parade to thread its way through town beginning at 5:30.
A lot of hard work goes into the planning of these structures and the finished product.
Many hours were spent this week constructing the floats.
One will be selected as the best, however, in our minds they are all winners because students, teachers and parents came together in a common cause to create them.
And, at least for a short period of time, our minds were diverted from the tragedy we have been watching - both at home and abroad.
We want to wish good luck to all the king and queen candidates, as well as the Brandywine Bobcat and Dowagiac Chieftain football teams as they take the field this evening.
