THREE OAKS, Mich. — Three local singer/songwriters are ready to take to the stage of the Acorn Theater in Three Oaks, Michigan at 7 p.m., Aug. 13, for what organizers promise will be a cool mid-summer evening of music and inspiration.

Leaders believe the stories within their music will inspire all who join this original lyrical journey.

Headliner Allison Brooks, whose album “The Heart of the Matter,” was released in 2014, takes to the stage with fellow Berrien Springs based artist Laura Whidden-Wetterlin and Savannah Whitaker another up-and-coming talent, new to the Michiana area.

Alison’s classical range and eclectic musical taste lend themselves to her electrified, vulnerable, folk/pop sound. Her melodies are sweet and her lyrics are loaded. Critics say her debut CD, “No Words,” took listeners on a musical journey through both struggle and victory always showing the power of love. The Heart of the Matter continued with much her very personal journey showcasing the best of a modern folk/pop playlist, borrowing from the sounds of Americana, R&B and rap.

The energy of Laura and Allison’s friendship whose musical talents and love of expression through song-writing have delighted listeners by sharing the stage locally on a number of occasions.

Laura is in her third year as a competitor in Michiana’s Rising Star on WNIT and was in the top 25 in 2013, top 20 in 2014, and has made it into the top 12 this year! This year Laura completed a $20,000 Kickstarter-fundraiser, which funded the upcoming release of her 4th independent album, a Holiday collection, November 2015.

Savannah Whitaker just recently moved to the Michiana area and is looking forward to performing with the two friends.

From Dowagiac, Michigan, she describes her style of music as indie Christian contemporary. Very acoustic with a coffee house feel. Originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Savannah released her first album in April of 2014, followed by the release of her second album, June 16, in Indiana. Like Allison and Laura, much of her music is drawn from her own life experience and as such rings true to her audience.

These three dynamic singer-songwriters will tell stories and sing songs of joy, pain, hope, and humanity. Come enjoy the gorgeous Acorn and let these ladies draw you into an intimate, interactive evening.

Tickets are $10 with a 20 percent off orders for groups of four or more and are available online through https://www.facebook.com/events/ 711985375580383. The Acorn Theater is located at 107 Generations Drive, Three Oaks.
