On July 30, Edwardsburg resident Lisa Fisher reported that her bike had been stolen to the Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Department.

Fisher, who works at McDonald’s, uses her bike to get back and forth to work.

The bike was stolen from in front of her home.

“Lisa loved that bike and it was very troubling to her,” Police Chief Timothy Kozal said. “Lisa, who suffers from Parkinsons, does not let her sickness get in her way. She loves her job and the people in the neighborhood.”

An apparently, the community loves her back.

When Kozal contacted numerous community members and business owners asking for assistance and to keep an eye out for her bike, an anonymous businessman stepped forward.

The business owner purchased Fisher a new bike with a basket and lock included.

On Sunday, Fisher was presented the new bike on her 61st birthday.

Kozal and Edwardsburg officer Andrew Erickson stopped by Fisher’s house to present her with the bike.

“Lisa’s first reaction was ‘that is not my bike,’” Kozal said.

Kozal wished her a happy birthday and told her about the donation.

“The smile was priceless,” he said. “Lisa could not stop talking about it and wanted to make sure that the person who bought the bike was thanked. Lisa got on her bike and sped away, excited that she can again ride to work.”
