Cass County has been awarded a grant for the collections of up to 3,000 used passenger/pick-up truck tires at no cost to the residents.

Tires can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 10 to 14, at Deerpath Recyclers, 56625 Wood House, Dowagiac, or from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at the Cass County Fairgrounds, Cassopolis.

Semi-truck and tractor tires are not included in this collection.

County leaders say Commissioners Robert Ziliak and E. Clark Cobb were instrumental in applying for and obtaining the grant, which is a joint effort between the Southwest Michigan Solid Waste Consortium and the Cass County Board of Directors.
