David E. Davis, 73, of Dowagiac, passed away July 7, 2015, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.
David was born Nov. 1, 1941, to the late Joe and Louise (Harris) Davis in Decatur, Alabama. David wed Susan (Spivey) Davis at a ceremony in Niles, in 1976. David was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He enjoyed walleye fishing with his family in Canada for over 20 years. David enjoyed hunting and loved his grandchildren and dogs; he could regularly be found enjoying a glass of Jack with his friends. David was very social and never missed the opportunity to tell a joke to anyone who’d listen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Louise; son, David Thompson and brother, Boyce Davis.
David is survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan Davis, sister; Ann Brumfield, children; Tammy (Mark) Hessey, Karon (Mike) Mercado, Terri (David) Fryman, Christine (Thom) Shaer, Kelli Davis and Mark Luthringer, Steven (Michelle) Davis, Stacy (Jeff) Toy, 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
In keeping with David’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s memory to the family in care of Brown Funeral Home at 521 E. Main St., Niles, Michigan 49120.
