Division 2 all-district, academic teams announced

The honors keep rolling in for Division 2 district champion Edwardsburg.
The Eddies had four players named to the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association Division 2 All-District team.
Edwardsburg’s A.J. Gaideski was also named Coach of the Year.
Selected by the district coaches from Edwardsburg were Jesse Reinebold (infield), Damion Pompey (infield), Dalton Raymond (utility) and Joe Raab (pitcher).
Niles had a pair of players selected as Chris Frantz was named as an outfielder and Jacob Hamm as a pitcher.
Dowagiac’s Matt Smith was selected at first base.
Former Dowagiac standout Mark Nate was named Coach of the Year after leading the Lancers to a 28-11 record.
Being named all-district is the first step in the all-state selection process. The all-region team will be announced later this week.
Reinebold hit .406 for the Eddies with six doubles, a triple and 21 RBIs. He also stole eight bases. Pompey hit .355 with six doubles, two triples, a home run and 19 RBIs. He had 13 stolen bases for the Eddies.
Raymond hit .395 with 11 doubles, a home run, 39 RBIs and 10 stolen bases, while Raab was 8-0 with an ERA of 0.43 and 71 strikeouts.
Gaideski led the Eddies to the district championship and his team finished the year 22-10.
Frantz hit .315 for the Vikings with eight doubles, three triples and 25 RBIs. He stole 26 bases.
Hamm was 5-2 with an ERA of 1.09 with 27 strikeouts.
Smith hit .389 for the Chieftains with seven doubles, a triple and 14 RBI.

Edwardsburg placed a trio of players on the Division 2 Academic All-District team, while Niles had two players selected.
The team was picked by the district coaches.
St. Joseph led the way with six players, while Paw Paw had five players selected.
Making the team for the Eddies were Zach Plummer, Ben Robertson and Dalton Raymond.
Alex Hardy and Wyatt Thornton represented the Vikings.
