Artists to sketch historic Buchanan home

BUCHANAN — Art teacher Nana Maher and artist Darlene Clevenger will meet at Pears Mill and take a group of budding artists across the street to sketch Buchanan’s historic Ross-Sanders House from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Supplies and instruction are free. Space for the event is limited to 12 people, and pre-registration is required. To register, email the Society at PreserveBuchanan@gmail.com. Students ages eight and older are welcome, and children must be accompanied by an adult.

The event is sponsored by the Buchanan Preservation Society with assistance from Buchanan’s Downtown Development Authority, and media sponsorship from WVPE.

Pears Mill is open every summer Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Buchanan Preservation Society (BPS) is a 501c3 non-profit volunteer organization with members in the Buchanan area, and was organized to preserve and encourage historic preservation.

Known primarily for its role in preserving and operating Pears Mill for public visitation, its mission also includes residential, commercial and industrial neighborhoods and their environments; specific buildings and structures; and historic and genealogical records and objects. The BPS often partners with other community organizations in this work.
