Robert L. Eady, 94, died at 12:45 in the afternoon, Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Woodland Terrace, Niles. He was born in Detroit, and attended Highland Park High School in Detroit, Michigan. He is survived by his second wife, Shirley M. Eady of South Bend. As well as, two daughters Denise and Janice who reside in Niles and three sons, Robert and wife Claire of Herndon, Virginia, Lynn Alan and wife Melanie of Appleton, Wisconsin, Douglas and husband Dwayne of Los Angeles, California. There are four grandchildren; Katherine and Anne Marie of Herndon and Mitchell and Bennett of Appleton, as well as the expected arrival of a great-grandson, Elijah Robert Laskey, due in October.
Robert was preceded in death by his first wife and mother to his children Aileen. Also his parents Wilber and Hattie Eady, and his brothers Tom and George Eady. George’s wife Laverne Eady, survives.
Robert and Aileen Eady were married April 19, 1942, at the Martha-May Chapel at Henry Ford’s Greenfield Village in Dearborn. Following the death of Aileen he was remarried to Shirley on May 17, 2009, at the Christian Science Church in South Bend. Mr. Eady served in the Navy and on the USS Sawfish. He began his career at American Standard in Detroit and later worked at Sundstrand Heat Transfer in Dowagiac, MI. He was active in the Elk’s Club, Rotary, was a board member of the Woodlands Behavioral Healthcare Network as well as being very active in the Christian Science Church.
Funeral services will be held at Brown Funeral Home in Niles, on Sunday, June 7, 2015, at 2 p.m. with a time of visitation beginning one hour prior. A reception will be held, following funeral services, at Orchard Hills Country Club in Niles.
