The staff of one of southwest Michigan’s oldest chiropractic practice has been keeping busy in recent weeks.

Next week, Berrien Springs-based Advanced Chiropractic plans to relocate its Niles office, from their current location at 11th Street to a new 7,300 square foot office downtown in Riverfront Square.

Closer to the Grand Old City, the practice recently opened the doors of its new office, located inside the former Pokagon Band Health Services Building on M-51. The staff at the new location, which officially opened May 19, will see patients from 9 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.

The area chiropractors have been eyeing an expansion into Dowagiac since late last year, when the 5,000 square foot facility became available after the Pokagon Band moved their health services operation to their new facility on Sink Road.

“We’ve been looking at the location for a while,” said owner Kimberly Stowe. “It’s a beautiful location. We’re pretty excited about the move.”

As with their offices in Niles and Berrien Springs, the Dowagiac branch will offer a number of chiropractic services to patients, including massage therapy, rehabilitation training and even nutritional counseling. The practice’s three doctors are trained to perform hand and instrument-assisted spinal corrections and chiropractic adjustments, so patients can receive whatever method of treatment they are most comfortable with, Stowe said.

“We try to cater to what each person needs because everyone one of patients is different,” she said. “Nothing drives me more nuts than when people get the level of care they need because of a practice’s cookie-cutter approach to care.”

Advanced Chiropractic has been in business for 33 years, started in Berrien Springs by Stowe’s father, Richard. Herself a 16-year veteran chiropractor, Stowe took over the administration of the business in 2011, she said.

“We honestly treat [customer] like family,” Stowe said. “That’s the biggest thing for me, creating those relationships, so that people know if they ever need anything they can come to us.”
