For the last 24 years, leaders in the city of Dowagiac have been enriching culture in Cass County, drawing big names and leading artists to the area, and bringing with them thousands of tourists eager to take part in a festival unlike any other in the region.

For 24 years the Dogwood Fine Arts Festival has been a successful showcase of local and national artists alike, and with the 2015 festival behind us, it’s safe to applaud the organizers of this week-long event for a job well done.

What sets the Dogwood Fine Arts Festival apart from other art fairs is that the opportunities provided by it are virtually endless. Unlike other art fairs and playwright festivals, the Dogwood Fine Arts Festival offers a little bit of something for everyone, covering art forms of all kinds. Visual artists, writers, performers and directors from all over the country — and right here in Michiana — are able to show the people traveling near and far all they have to offer, and it’s truly spectacular to see it come to life year after year.

It was exciting to see the return of several staple events combined with events like the tea party that have not been hosted in some time, and even brand new events like the wine tasting at Southwestern Michigan College. After a near quarter-century, this festival continues to grow and prosper, and it’s so exciting to see the hard-working individuals continue to come up with new ideas for this special event.

As the organizers of the Dogwood Fine Arts Festival take a quick breather before beginning to plan the quadranscential event, we’d like to take the time to say thank you for a job well done. We look forward to seeing an even bigger and better festival next spring.
