Janet Darlene Ivens, age 77, of Marcellus, MI passed away unexpectedly Friday, May 8, 2015.
She was born Nov. 7, 1937, in Dowagiac, the daughter of Kenneth and Helen (Mitchell) Bass. On Oct. 22, 1956, in Cassopolis, Michigan she married Carroll J Ivens and he preceded her in death in 2013.
Janet truly enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a great cook and enjoyed watching cooking shows and Dancing with the Stars. Janet and her late husband Carroll were avid campers at Goff Lake Campground in Marcellus. She also enjoyed traveling.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra (Wendell) Pompey of Marcellus, Michigan and Diane (Edgar) Wilson of Caledonia, Michigan; three sons, Larry (Ellen) Ivens of Marcellus, Michigan Gregory (Rhonda) Ivens of Cassopolis, Michigan and Bruce Ivens of Kalamazo, Michigan; one sister, Glennis Godbee of Dowagiac, Michigan; one brother, Kenneth Wayne Bass of Colombus, Ohio; her Aunt Hazel Pagano of Battle Creek, MI who is 108; six grandchildren, Megan Kelley, Antonio and Lorenzo Ivens, Reva Ivens and Rodney and Marcus Pompey. Four great-grandchildren, Mia and Zoe Kelley and Dane and Ace Mason. She was preceded in death by her husband Carroll and two brothers, Bob Conner and Michael Bass and one sister, Linda Johnson. Janet’s brother, Ronald Bass of Niles, MI passed away Sunday evening, May 10, 2015.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015 in the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home, Marcellus.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2015 in the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home.
