Support our local leagues

Although school is still in session, summer baseball has gotten under way throughout southwest Michigan.

That means youth baseball and softball games are being played at parks throughout the area.

On Saturday, Edwardsburg and Cassopolis both held opening ceremonies and games got under way.

Youth sports are an important part of small communities and with that being said, we encourage residents to get out and support these children as they compete against each other and teams from other communities.

Youth Sports leagues are always in need of volunteers and funding. These are non-profit organizations that pour every dollar they receive back into the fields, uniforms and equipment.

So if you have the ability to give more than just your time, then we encourage you to do so. It will be greatly appreciated by both the league and the children who get the opportunity to play sports in the summertime.

If you cannot give of yourself financially, then volunteer to help keep the parks clean, running a concession stand or coach.

It only takes a few hours a week to make a difference in the life of a young boy or girl.

Your reward will be the satisfaction of seeing these youngsters playing sports for the love of the game.

Contact your local youth sports association and offer up your time. We promise that you will not regret it.
