Juanita “Nana” M. (Phillips) Walling, 67, of Dowagiac, passed away at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo on Friday, May 1, 2015.
Juanita was born March 19, 1948, to George A. and Mary (Bowlin) Phillips in Toledo, Ohio.
Juanita’s children remember her as a wonderful stay at home mom during their childhood. When she began to work outside the home she was a caregiver to many who were homebound and could not care for themselves.
Juanita was very generous with her love and her time. She became “Nana” and a second mom to many. Juanita enjoyed her animals, taking time out of her day to feed the birds. Her greatest joy and love was her family.
Juanita will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind. She is survived by her children, Joe (Andrea) Walling of Columbus, Ohio, Kimberly Haneberg of Dowagiac, Kelly Ostrowski of Dowagiac, and Sam Walling of Kalamazoo; her grandchildren, Rylee and Baylee Jo Walling of Columbus, Kurt, II and Katheryn Haneberg of Dowagiac, Michael Walling of Delta, Ohio, and Chris Walling of Kalamazoo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Herman Bowlin.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 9, at 3 p.m. at Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, 405 Center St. in Dowagiac. Her family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-3 p.m. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the family, c/o Kimberly Haneberg.
