Sylvia Mae Teichman, 98, of Buchanan, passed away on Tues., Dec. 16, 2014, surrounded by her family.

She was born Nov. 28, 1916 in Buchanan to Lloyd “Buck” & Sophia Wallace.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband of 39 yrs., Henry Teichman; sister, Pearl Haas; and one grandchild.

She was Miss Buchanan in 1937 and was a member of the S.W.M. Blossomtime Sorority. She worked for EV for a good many years and was on the board at Niles Precision. She was an avid Polka dancer, loved being outside, and operating heavy equipment. She loved her flowers and spending time with her family.

Sylvia is survived by her sons, Ron (Bonnie) Fernwalt, and Don (Roselynn) Fernwalt; three grandchildren, Todd (Mary) Fernwalt, Julie (Mark) Averill, Troy (Jan) Fernwalt; six great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.

A celebration of life held by the family will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 21 at Buchanan American Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heartland Hospice or Buchanan American Legion. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan.
