When Edwardsburg takes the field Friday night against Eaton Rapids for the Division 4 Regional championship, it could have one thing going for it.

“We have not seen, on film, anyone that Eaton Rapids has played that looks like us offensively,” Edwardsburg coach Kevin Bartz said. “That leaves us with some uncertainty of the alignment and scheme they will use to defend us. We will need to be prepared for anything.”

The Eddies’ Wing-T offense should be able to give Eaton Rapids (8-3) some problems, especially early on.

Bartz and his staff are hoping by the time they figure out how to defend the Eddies, they will have gained an advantage.

“Eaton Rapids has an excellent defense,” Bartz said. “They are quick, aggresive and play good disciplined team defense.”

Offensively, the Greyhounds are big and physical and have a couple of quick, strong running backs and a quarterback that throws the ball well.

“Our keys to winning include continuing to improve and play solid defense,” Bartz said. “Our six interior defenders have made big strides the last two weeks in stopping the run. We need to put teams into situations where they have to pass. I like our chances when they ball is in the air.”

Edwardsburg (10-1) is after its second regional title. The Eddies defeated Lansing Sexton for a championship in 2010.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
