Leo Maddox Welling, the 7-year-old son of Jeremey and Kim Welling of Niles, died at 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at home with his family.
He was born on June 29, 2006, in Niles to Jeremey Paul and Kimberly May (Chapman) Welling and has lived in Niles all of his life. He attended the Blossomland Learning Center.
Leo loved receiving massages and enjoyed music, especially Progressive Classic Rock and Space, and the movie “Despicable Me.” More than all of this, he loved his pet cats and dog, and his friends, twin sister and brothers.
He encountered various health issues with courage and a smile in a manner for which he rightfully earned the title “Hero.”
Leo is survived by his parents, Kim and Jeremey; his brothers, Raven Biggs and Jacob Welling; his twin-sister, Skylynn Welling; grandparents Susan Welling of South Bend, Ind. and Kenton Chapman of Niles; great-grandparents Ilene Poe of South Bend and Joseph and Mary Lou Welling of Georgia; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Leo’s happiest place outdoors was Arthur Dodd Memorial Park on Creek Road near Sumnerville where his family will receive relatives and friends for a time to celebrate memories and share condolences from 2 until 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2014.
Contributions in memory of Leo may be made to Cass County Parks and Recreation for Arthur Dodd Park. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
