On Feb. 22, 1964, Tom and Boo (Beulah Howard) Smith were married at the Naval Air Station North Island, Coronado, Calif. Chapel. Boo had just finished her three-year enlistment and Tom was still attached to the security department at the Naval Air Base.

Boo and Tom moved back to Michigan in 1966 and have lived in Niles ever since. They have two daughters, Brooks Smith Baker of Grand Rapids and April Smith Short of Niles. They have been blessed with four grandchildren: Madison, James and Nicholas Baker of Grand Rapids and Katelyn Short of Niles.

A celebration is being planned for later in the year when the weather conditions improve.
