NILES - The Brandywine varsity football team started the season with a bang Friday night as it took a 32-8 win over Lawrence to open up the 2005 football season.
After falling to the Tigers last year, 25-0, the Bobcats got all the revenge they needed as a very happy team cheered at huddled together after the win.
The Bobcats took a very early lead when Joel Perry scored a three yard touchdown to put his team up 6-0.
Caleb Frazier scored a 24 yard touchdown to open up the second quarter and with 8:52 on the clock, Matt Duckett added a 15 yard touchdown to put the Bobcats up 18-0.
Another 20 yard touchdown from Frazier with 1:40 left in the half put Brandywine up 25-0 heading into intermission.
It didn't take long for the Bobcats to get an even bigger lead advantage when Duckett scored a 22 yard touchdown to give the Bobcats a 32-0 lead.
The Tigers, who only have 16 members on their team, made an attempt in the second half to score touchdowns, but couldn't pull on off until the fourth quarter with 1:35 left in the game.
Lawrence made a successful two-point conversion to put it on the board, but the last minute attempt came too late as the Bobcats took the victory.
Duckett lead the Bobcats with 171 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Frazier ended the night with two tackles, while Perry added one.
Justin Price had six tackles, while Taylor Brennen added five.
Even with the win, Borr admitted there are still some things the Bobcats need to work on as the season moves along.
The Bobcats travel to Centreville next Thursday and Borr said to prepare for them, his team is going to work to be better and improve every phase of Brandywine's game.
