Buchanan locks up Lakeland championship

Despite a strong effort, the Brandywine boys basketball team is still looking for its first Lakeland Conference victory of the season.
The Bobcats (5-10, 0-4 Lakeland) gave league-leading Buchanan all it wanted before falling 53-41 Friday night.
The victory locked up the Lakeland Conference championship with Buchanan, which only has games left with Bridgman and Cassopolis.
Buchanan improves to 9-1 overall and is 3-0 in the league.
The Bucks led 12-6 after one and 20-12 at halftime as both teams struggled to put the ball in the hoop.
Buchanan took a 34-27 advantage into the final quarter.
Doug Freeman scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Bucks, who also got 12 points from Kevin Dey.
Andrew Boocher scored 11 points and Zach Schmidt 10 for the Bobcats.
