The 5K for 5 Ways to Care is a 5K run/walk with a kids fun run at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 25 at Candlewood Suites in Stevensville.
The course will follow a scenic wooded area of Ridge Road to Glenlord Beach along the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan
Net proceeds from the event, which has been recognized as a quality physical activity by the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, will support the five comprehensive programs of Child & Family Services of Southwestern Michigan, including Autumn House and Harbor House Adult Day Services; Helping Hands Adult Homecare Services; Link Youth Crisis Intervention Center; Safe Shelter for Survivors of Domestic Violence; and, West Michigan Guardianship.
“By endorsing local events all across the state, we hope to bring attention to the importance of physical activity and encourage our citizens to take responsibility for their health,” said Marilyn Lieber, president and CEO of the Governor’s Council. “These local events can have a tremendous impact on health care costs that present a significant challenge for our state’s economy.”
