Co-founder of Pure Prairie League, Craig Fuller performs at Acorn Theater at 8 p.m. April 6. Tickets are $20.

While with PPL, Fuller wrote and sang the band’s most noteworthy song, “Amie” and was the major songwriter on the band’s first two, most highly acclaimed albums.

Fuller departed in 1973 after the group’s second album, Bustin’ Out. He returned to the music business in 1976 for two LPs with American Flyer.

After American Flyer dissolved, Fuller returned to record one LP with former Flyer member Eric Kaz.

In 1987, Fuller was hired by Little Feat to front the band, which had long ago noticed an uncanny resemblance in his voice to its late frontman and founder, Lowell George.

Fuller’s first LP with the band was “Let It Roll,” although he left the band in 1993. He made a guest appearance on the group’s 1996 live album Live From Neon Park.

He is one of several guest artists on Little Feat’s 2008 album Join the Band, playing a duet with percussionist Sam Clayton on the Lowell George classic “Spanish Moon.”

As a member of Little Feat, he was a major writer on “Let It Roll,” the band’s Grammy-nominated 1989 album, “Representing The Mombo” (1991), and “Shake Me Up” (1993).

Fuller opened for and sat in with Little Feat on New Years Eve 2011 at the Fillmore in Silver Spring, Md., when the band performed its classic album Waiting For Columbus.

A father of four, he divides his time between Pinehurst, N.C., and Nashville.

Fuller golfs when he’s not performing 25 to 30 shows a year mostly with PPL or a solo acoustic show, sometimes with his son, Patrick, and on occasion with Little Feat.
