Fernwood has special activities for kids: Make a snow sculpture in suggested areas, weather permitting. Free with paid Fernwood admission.
Holiday hours
Fernwood will be closed on Saturday through Sunday and again Dec. 31 through Jan. 1.
Mosaic pendant class
10 a.m. to noon, Jan. 19
Mosaics instructor Martha Branson-Banks helps participants make a one-of-a-kind mosaic pendant necklace, featuring cut glass. All materials are provided but feel free to bring pieces of glass or other small items from home to incorporate into any creations. Fee is $25; members $20. Register by Jan. 17.
Patricia Banker Anachrons Exhibit
Patricia Banker’s work is featured in an Anachrons exhibit in the gallery. These original works incorporate a montage of images from hundreds of sources, ranging from ancient to contemporary.
Filled with symbolism, the mix of styles, periods and cultures results in inspiring, whimsical and informative pieces. Plaques, prints, sculptures, greeting cards and one-of-a-kind jewelry will be on exhibit and available for purchase.
Exhibit continues through Jan. 29.
St. Vincent’s Day
4 p.m. Jan. 21
In conjunction with her gallery exhibit, Banker hosts a celebration for St. Vincent’s Day.
Banker will explain the traditions of Vincent of Saragossa as patron saint of wine and vineyards, Fiacre as patron saint of gardeners and even cab drivers, Gobnait as patron saint of beekeepers, and how the beauty and bounty of Berrien County has inspired her artwork.
Then raise a glass to honor St. Vincent by enjoying hors d’oeuvres and a sample of local wines. Fee is $15; members $12.
