Pop heartthrobs in the 1970s, the Osmond Brothers have been performing in front of world-wide audiences for 50 years. They grew up and have practically lived on a stage, performing their smooth harmonies. On Dec. 3 at 7 p.m., The Osmond Brothers will bring holiday cheer to the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center Mainstage at with their Christmas show.
Wayne, Jay, and Merrill perform all styles of music from barbershop, pop, rock, country and jazz. They have sold more than 77 million albums, and have 47 gold and platinum records featuring their close harmonies.
Starting out as entertainers at Disneyland where they were spotted by Andy Williams, the Osmond Brothers began performing on the Andy Williams Show on TV for seven seasons and touring with Williams. From that point they were gone on to break records for sell out performances once held by The Beatles and Elvis. Along the way they have won numerous awards including the People’s Choice Award, “Best Vocal Group,” “Best Show” in Branson Missouri, and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Many of their huge loyal fan base from all over the world have followed the Osmond Brothers from the very beginning. The Osmond Brothers recently completed a very successful tour in England in 2010.
In 1992, after almost 40 years of concert tours, The Osmond Brothers managed to bring their work and home together in one place. With the purchase of a theater in Branson, Missouri, Jimmy persuaded his brothers to move to Branson. This move had The Osmond Brothers performing two shows a day, six days a week, for sell-out crowds at The Osmond Family Theater.
The Osmond hits include “Love Me For a Reason,” “Crazy Horses,” “Going Home,” “Let Me In” and “The Proud One.”
To fill your night with cheer, plan on attending the A Gift of Giving Pre-Show Party at 5:30 p.m. where you can celebrate the true meaning of the holiday season by bringing non-perishable food items for the Benton Harbor Soup Kitchen or gently used clothing donation to the Salvation Army.
