Water Street Glassworks will be transformed into an urban bistro on Saturday, May 29 from 6 to 9 p.m. for a delicious “food performance” fundraising event, “Extinguish the Fire: A Glassblower’s Ritual.”

This is the third year for Chef Timothy Sizer and crew to skillfully prepare the evening’s fresh fare – live, over molten glass. Guests will enjoy beverages, four courses and an exciting food and glass performance. Sizer says he enjoys the unique challenge of using glass as his cooking surface.

“The sights, sounds, smells and of course – tastes are amazing,” said Glassworks co-founder Kathy Catania. “Guests are truly in awe throughout the evening.”

Co-chairs of the event are Glassworks’ Board members Kerri LeRoux and Anne Odden.
The evening includes silent and live auctions of glass artwork to benefit the Glassworks’ operating budget and a live reverse auction to benefit the Fired Up! teen after-school glass program.

The event culminates in a demonstration of the unique properties of glass as Jerry Catania and crew remove all the remaining glass from the furnace and turn it off for the summer.
Classes in all other Glassworks’ studios will continue throughout the summer months.

Tickets are $75. per person and go on sale at 11 am May 1. Dress is casual for the heat.
