Michelle Rudlaff, of Berrien Springs, Eric Gorenflo, of St. Joseph, Ben Riffer-Reinert, of South Haven and Tom Walkley, of Pullman have been selected to represent Lake Michigan College in the All-USA Team competition.
By virtue of their nominations to compete for the All-USA Team, the four students also have been named to the Phi Theta Kappa All-Michigan Academic Team. The students were honored, along with other nominees from community colleges across the state, at a recent ceremony in Lansing hosted by the Michigan Community College Association.
To be considered for nomination, students must have a 3.50 or better cumulative grade point average and need to have a minimum of 45 semester college-level credits completed (of which 30 need to be completed at the community college level within the last 5 years).
The All-USA Team competition is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, the American Association of Community Colleges and USA Today. It recognizes outstanding students enrolled in community and technical colleges across the nation. From the nominations received, 20 students will be selected to the national team, each receiving a $2,500 stipend.
National winners will be featured in USA Today.
