Clarence Goins, 71, of Vandalia, died peacefully Friday, August 2, 2013 in Silverbrook Manor, Niles, after a long battle with cancer.
Clarence was born September 19, 1941, in Cassopolis, Michigan, to Jacob and Evelyn (Copley) Goins. His parents preceded him in death. He was also preceded by three sisters, Margaret Guess, Betty Robinson and Cynthia Anderson; and one brother, George Goins.
Clarence was a veteran of both the U.S. Army and the Marine Corps. He worked several years at Clark Equipment of Buchanan, and Williams Homes Center of Niles. He retired from Hackney in Elkhart, Indiana.
Clarence will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by three sons, Lawrence (Shiree) Goins of Lacona, New York, Douglas (Tervonda) Goins of Cassopolis and Damon (Terri) Goins of Buchanan; nine grandchildren; one sister, Erma (Robert Earl) Brunty of Cassopolis, two brothers, Marlin (Patricia) Goins of Cassopolis, Roger Goins of Cassopolis; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather Tuesday, August 6, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. until time of service at 6:00 p.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, immediately followed by a light reception at the funeral home. Mr. Goins will be laid to rest in Calvin Township Cemetery in a private family ceremony.
